A small flower becomes a gamut of inspiration for a great writer like Tagore. And not only Tagore, if you look at the history of the art and culture of the world you would notice that since the Cretaceous period when flowers came into this earth, it has always motivated and inspired artists. And it also has the stamina to transform a dark and gloomy room into a dazzling one. As a country we are one of the most striking ones because of the variety of topography leading to more variety in flora and fauna.   • We own the biggest flower market in Asian continent and that is placed in MullickGhat under the iconic Howrah Bridge in West Bengal. When you are still sleeping at dawn, the activity of this flower market starts. Orange and yellow genda or marigolds are the highest grossers in this market in any time of the year. There is also variety of flowers like rose, lily, lotus, jasmine, etc. The beautiful locale of the Ganges under the Howrah Bridge provides a great glimpse to the tourists and travelers.
  • You must have known Madurai to be the temple town of India. The Meenaxi Temple is one of the greatest tourist pullers in India. This town of Tamil Nadu is one of the most famous places in India for flowers. One would get the best Jasmine here.
  • If talking about flowers in India, how can one forget the breath-taking floating flower market over the Dal Lake in Kashmir? The boats are full with roses, daisies, blue forget-me-nots, tulips, daffodils, snow drops, and asters. This view of flower sellers on a boat itself is such a romantic treat to the eyes.
  • The Dadra region of Mumbai is famous for its flower market. You would find at least 600 stalls selling varieties of flowers and you have to jostle in the crowd from 4 A.M till 9 A.M. in the morning. Colorful flowers of all variety are really a treat for the visitors here.
  • Hyderabad has two major flower markets, one at Gudimalkapur and the other at Jambagh. And this love for flowers in Hyderabad is observed since the times of the Nizams.
